Course Description:

This autism awareness training course is designed to enhance communication skills for staff working or living with individuals who have Autism. It emphasises the impact that both positive and negative communication can have on people with Autism and aims to dispel common myths while increasing understanding of the condition.

• What is Asperger Syndrome?
• Explore the Triad of Impairment
• Identify characteristics of people with Autism and how it impacts behaviour
• Facts and myths about Autism
• Help, support, and potential medication for people with Autism

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

• Define Autism and demonstrate knowledge of Asperger Syndrome
• Understand the statistics, myths, and realities surrounding Autism
• Identify key characteristics and behaviours in people with Autism
