Course Aims
This eLearning course aims to introduce you to the topic of hand hygiene in Health and Social Care.
It begins with an introduction to hand hygiene and why it is important. It then explores the Chain of Infection with a focus on the mode of transmission. It considers how the chain can be broken by practising the 5 Moments of Hand Hygiene. The course demonstrates the correct procedures for hand washing and the use of hand rub. The course concludes with how to put on and take off disposable gloves correctly. In addition, this course aims to enable you to apply your learning to demonstrate competent performance against the assessment criteria related to hand hygiene in the Care Certificate and Health and Social Care Diplomas at level 2 and 3, which all focus on your ability to use a recommended method to wash your hands.
