Course Description:
This Medication Administration course is designed for people responsible for handling, administering, and disposing of medication within a care environment. The training focuses on enhancing knowledge and understanding of safe medication practices, covering key topics such as types of medication, routes of administration, the ‘7 R’s’ of medication handling, and how to prevent and document errors.
The course also provides an overview of current regulations and legislation, ensuring that staff are confident in following best practices when dealing with medication. Topics include:
- Understand the different types of medication and their purposes
- Learn the various routes of administration and their correct application
- Understand and apply the 7 R’s of medication handling (Right Person, Right Medication, Right Dose, Right Time, Right Route, Right Documentation, and Right Response)
- Recognise common errors in medication handling and how to prevent them
- Gain confidence in completing accurate and compliant medication documentation
- Develop a clear understanding of current regulations and legislation regarding medication handling
- Build confidence in handling, administering, and disposing of medication safely and effectively
