Course Description:

Where there are more than two learners to attend, the training can be arranged to accommodate two theory sessions in a day or two practical sessions in a day.

Topics include:

During the Training, All Learners Will Undertake the Following:

• An eyesight check
• A driving licence check

The Theory Session:

• How to complete a pre-drive check (which will be coached and observed in the practical element)
• A refresher and update on the Highway Code
• Collision awareness, including identifying responsibilities and safety advice following involvement in a collision, with an emphasis on how they can be avoided
• Introduction to safe and defensive driving (which will then be applied in the practical on-road sessions)
• Training on SMART motorways and safe driving techniques, which will then be reinforced in the practical delivery

Practical Driving Session:

The on-road training will implement techniques and skills discussed during the theory session, and learners will be supportively instructed and assessed.

Learners Will Be Provided With:

• Ongoing feedback during the practical session
• A personal development plan
• A full report and certification upon completion

Who Delivers Defensive Driver Training?

The trainers are all former Police Officers who are specialists in road safety and traffic management.
They are highly skilled in enhancing the driving skills of learners and developing confidence on the road.
