Course Description:

This Food Safety awareness course provides a comprehensive introduction to food hygiene and safety practices for individuals working with or handling food in the UK. The course focuses on compliance with UK food safety legislation and equips participants with practical knowledge to maintain high standards of hygiene in food premises and prevent food-related hazards.

Topics include:

  • Understand key UK food safety laws, including the Food Safety Act 1990, Food Hygiene (England) Regulations 2006, and EC Regulation 852/2004.
  • Identify and describe the main types of hazards (biological, chemical, physical, and allergenic) and their impact on food safety.
  • Learn best practices for storing food safely, including temperature control, separation of raw and ready-to-eat foods, and correct labelling and rotation.
  • Understand the responsibilities of food handlers in maintaining hygiene, including personal hygiene, cleaning routines, and preventing cross-contamination.
  • Gain an understanding of the stages of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), including identifying hazards, critical control points, and monitoring requirements.
