Course Description:
This Health and Safety in Care course is designed to provide care workers with essential knowledge and skills to create a safe and secure working environment. It covers key legislation, risk assessment processes, roles and responsibilities, workplace security, and accident response. The course ensures participants understand their duties and the measures required to protect themselves, colleagues, and the individuals they care for.
Topics include:
- Gain an understanding of key UK legislation, such as the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, and other relevant care-specific regulations.
- Learn the stages of a risk assessment, from identifying hazards to implementing controls, and understand their importance in preventing harm.
- Understand the responsibilities of employers, employees, and other stakeholders in maintaining health and safety in care settings.
- Recognise the importance of maintaining security in the workplace, including safeguarding premises, protecting personal belongings, and managing access.
- Learn how to respond to workplace accidents, including reporting procedures, first aid requirements, and post-incident reviews.
