Course Description:

This Personal Care training course is designed for carers and support staff responsible for providing personal care to individuals in need. The course equips learners with the knowledge and practical skills to deliver care with dignity, respect, and compassion, while promoting the individual’s independence and well-being.

Learners will explore the principles of personal care, including hygiene, grooming, dressing, and assisting with daily activities. The course also focuses on recognising individual preferences, maintaining privacy, and adhering to health and safety regulations in care settings.

Topics include:

  • Understand the principles of personal care and its role in supporting individuals’ dignity and well-being
  • Learn how to assist individuals with hygiene, grooming, toileting, and dressing in a respectful manner
  • Recognise the importance of privacy, choice, and personal preferences in personal care.
  • Develop practical skills to ensure safety and comfort while delivering care
  • Understand infection control practices and the safe use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Explore strategies for promoting independence and encouraging individuals to participate in their personal care routines
  • Gain confidence in communicating effectively with individuals to build trust and ensure their needs are met
