Course Description:

This Safeguarding and Protection of Adults training course is designed for carers, healthcare professionals, and support staff to develop a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities in safeguarding vulnerable adults. The course focuses on recognising signs of abuse and neglect, responding appropriately to concerns, and ensuring compliance with legal and organisational safeguarding frameworks.

Learners will explore the principles of safeguarding, the importance of promoting dignity and respect, and practical strategies for protecting adults at risk of harm. The training also covers reporting procedures, multi-agency working, and maintaining a person-centred approach to care.

Topics include:

  • Understand what safeguarding is and why it is essential for protecting adults at risk.
  • Recognise the different types of abuse and neglect, including physical, emotional, financial, and institutional abuse.
  • Identify signs and indicators of abuse and neglect.
  • Gain an understanding of the Prevent Strategy, as outlined by the UK Government
  • Understand the legal frameworks and guidelines governing safeguarding practices, including the Care Act 2014.
  • Learn how to respond to safeguarding concerns and report them appropriately.
  • Explore the importance of multi-agency working in safeguarding adults.
  • Understand how to maintain confidentiality while sharing information responsibly.
  • Promote a person-centred approach to safeguarding, respecting dignity, and supporting independence.
