Course Description:

This Safeguarding Children and Young People training course is designed for carers, educators, healthcare professionals, and support staff to understand their roles and responsibilities in safeguarding minors. The course focuses on recognising the signs of abuse and neglect, responding appropriately to concerns, and adhering to legal and organisational safeguarding frameworks.

Learners will explore the principles of safeguarding, the importance of creating safe environments, and practical strategies to protect children and young people at risk of harm. The training also covers effective communication, multi-agency working, and maintaining a child-centred approach to safeguarding.

Topics include:

  • Understand the principles of safeguarding children and why it is essential.
  • Recognise the different types of abuse and neglect, including physical, emotional, sexual, and online abuse.
  • Identify signs and indicators of abuse and neglect in children and young people.
  • Gain knowledge of the legal frameworks and guidelines governing safeguarding, including the Children Act 1989 and 2004, and Working Together to Safeguard Children.
  • Learn how to respond to safeguarding concerns and report them appropriately.
  • Understand the importance of multi-agency working and effective communication in safeguarding.
  • Explore strategies to create safe environments for children and young people.
  • Promote a child-centred approach, respecting the voice and rights of the child.
