Skills for Care Funding: What This Means for You

The Skills for Care funding pot for 2025/ 2026 is now open, offering an exciting opportunity for Individual Employers and Personal Assistants (PAs) to access funding for essential training. But what does this mean for you?

What is Skills for Care Funding?

The Skills for Care funding pot is designed to support Individual Employers and their PAs by providing financial assistance for training and development.

This initiative is especially crucial for those who use adult social care direct payments, NHS Personal Health Budgets, or even use their own money to hire and manage Personal Assistants.

Who Is Eligible?

To qualify for the funding, you must meet the following criteria:

  • You must be 18 years or older.
  • You either employ your own PAs or contract with self-employed PAs.
  • You are funding your PAs through your own money, adult social care direct payments, or NHS Personal Health Budgets.

What Can the Funding Be Used For?

The funding can be used to cover a variety of training-related expenses, including:

  • Developing your skills as an employer or helping your PAs gain new learning.
  • Cover expenses associated with completing training or qualifications.
  • Hiring temporary support while your regular PAs attend training courses.
  • Skills for Care can also cover travel costs that are related to attending training sessions.

You can apply for up to five training courses per person. Once these courses are completed, you can apply for additional funding for more courses!
