Stroke Awareness

Course Aims:

This eLearning course aims to increase your knowledge and understanding about strokes and the impact they can have on an individual’s life.

The course begins by explaining what a stroke is, the prevalence of strokes in the UK, how they are caused, the different types of strokes and their subtypes.

In Stage two, you will learn about the factors that increase the risk of a stroke and the main causes of a stroke. You will also learn how to reduce the risk of a stroke.

The course then outlines the common signs of a stroke and teaches you how to identify the signs of a stroke. You will then learn how a stroke is treated and the common symptoms an individual may experience, including physical, cognitive, and emotional problems.

In the final stage, the course explains the key stages of a stroke and the complications that can arise following a stroke. It will help you to understand how you can support an individual who has had a stroke and explains the roles of the different professionals who can help.
